According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call to assist from the Awendaw Fire Department for a workplace accident. The dispatch described an individual who had “apparently sustained severe injuries from electricity.” Emergency crews airlifted the victim to Medical University Hospital.
According to South Carolina Electric & Gas, workers had been in the area and were working utility equipment at the time of the incident.
