William “Billy” Sweeny is lead trial counsel at Christmas Injury Lawyers where his practice focuses on catastrophic injury litigation, trucking collisions, industrial incidents, automobile wrecks, insurance coverage, and premises liability.
He approaches each client’s unique case with skill, compassion, and the understanding that medical treatment and bills are often just the tip of the iceberg for the compensable harm suffered. The ways in which injuries can impact work, leisure, relationships, and the use and enjoyment of time must be addressed in order to do justice to the complete reality of each client’s experience.
Billy pursues brave results built by hard work and guided by tested character. He applies a relentless approach to proving the merits of each client’s case.
Experience
At Christmas Injury Lawyers, Billy dedicates all of his practice to representing people hurt by others’ negligence across the spectrum of personal injury litigation. A depth of experience underlies every facet of his client service.
Prior to shifting into full-time plaintiff’s work, Billy worked at several renowned defense firms where he learned firsthand the hidden and complex innerworkings of trucking companies, industrial operators, and insurance. Early in his career, he worked for the State of South Carolina’s general counsel of litigation by prosecuting corporations with abusive and evasive tax structures. He now works to hold individuals, companies, and insurers accountable for careless actions, which are often the result of the willful pursuit or allowance of dangerous practices.
One principle learned through many years of prosecuting and representing corporations and insurers is that change only occurs when the status quo is costly. Billy has experienced from both sides of the courtroom how the civil justice system is critical to the alignment of community values with corporate policies and behavior.
