SC Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired
The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired South Carolina (ABVI) has been serving and supporting individuals with visual needs in the Charleston Tri-County area for over 85 years.
ABVI was established on October 14, 1936 by a dedicated group of volunteers led by Mrs. Fred J. Sahlmann and members of the American Foundation for the Blind. They were chartered and incorporated on April 19, 1937. While their services have changed over the years, they’ve always promoted independence and strived to improve the quality of life for individuals who are blind or visually impaired through the programs we provide.

Gary Christmas Donates $10K to SC Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired
Giving back to the community is often a priority for successful people, and it exemplifies their character. As an ideal example of this mindset that so many strive towards, Gary Christmas has recently donated $10K to the SC Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired. His dedication to helping those less fortunate than himself serves as a light illuminating others in our own area, showing us all what kind of positive impact we can make on our neighbors’ lives with just a little bit of effort and kindness.
Gary has spent the last 25 years fighting for the injured in South Carolina. He has always been a man of God and giver. Gary prides himself on his faith, his family and the work we do at CIL. He gives back on a regular basis, to so many different groups. From chromebooks in Hollywood and Ravenel schools to helping a local cheerleading team travel to the state championships, improving our communities is at the fore of what he does.
