Justice For Jamal: Family Of Jamal Sutherland To Receive $10 Million Settlement

Jamal Sutherland, a 31-year-old Goose Creek resident, died January 5th after being tased repeatedly and pepper sprayed by two deputies attempting to remove Sutherland from his cell for a bail hearing. Through the efforts of our firm and co-counsel, Sutherland’s family was recently awarded a $10 million settlement which was approved by the Charleston County Council. While we know there is still more work to be done, we are happy to have helped the Sutherland family through this difficult time in achieving the first step in obtaining Justice for Jamal.
